  • Give Your Animal Crossing Villagers The Gift Of Linux | Hackaday
    Notes
thanks to the work of [decrazyo] there’s a piece of furniture that you can add to your Animal Crossing house that will never get old: an x86 emulator that boots Linux. As explained in the video below, this trick leverages the fact that Nintendo had already built a highly accurate Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) emulator into Animal Crossing on the GameCube, which could be used to run a handful of classic games from within the player’s virtual living room. But it turns out that you can get that emulator to load a user-provided ROM from the GameCube’s memory card, which opens the doors to all sorts of mischief.

    Notes
WebVM is a server-less virtual environment running fully client-side in HTML5/WebAssembly. It's designed to be Linux ABI-compatible. It runs an unmodified Debian distribution including many native development toolchains. WebVM is powered by the CheerpX virtualization engine, and enables safe, sandboxed client-side execution of x86 binaries on any browser. CheerpX includes an x86-to-WebAssembly JIT compiler, a virtual block-based file system, and a Linux syscall emulator.

    Notes
There are many open source BBS resources out there for Linux, but I came up short in finding anything even remotely mentioning renegade and Linux in the same sentence. This left me feeling nostalgically challenged so I set out to find a way to run a telnet multi-node Renegade BBS from my Ubuntu system. In this instructable, I will show you how I achieved this and hopefully inspire some much needed creative improvements as well.

  • Mount / Unmount Android System images | My Cellar Door
    Notes
There are many reasons for wanting to unpack Android’s system image. The most obvious is modifying it. System.img is in the end an ext4 loop file system (such as the Linux system image), that can be mounted, modified and repacked in order to be burned afterwards in an embedded system. Android’s system image can be obtained from the google factory images.

  • How to manually mount a USB Hard Disk, including a disk that was part of a RAID1 array - SynologyWiki
    Notes
This wiki shows you how to manually mount a USB Drive enclosure containing a Hard Disk. The term "mount" is the Linux term for adding a data device to a system so that its contents are navigatable. The procedure also describes the steps necessary if the Hard Drive in the USB enclosure was previously part of a working RAID 1 configuration (e.g. removed from another Synology Server). The same procedure will also probably work for RAID 0 drives, but I have not tested that.

Something that has always annoyed me about a good deal of netbooks is the fact that someone decided that 1024x600 was an acceptable maximum resolution. While this isn't always an issue, it becomes extra annoying when you attach an external display to your tiny computer. By default your are typically forced into one of two choices:

You can savely remove this file. This file is auto-generated by /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules. You can remove that file as well. Combined with bridged networking and a quick hosts file change, and I've got a production-equivalent server always available at server.local."
